Heh. You didn't really think I'd forget the party dude, didja? Man, drawing these guys takes me back. They've been my greatest inspiration in character art as a child, and I very much doubt I'm the only one. In fact, I'm sure of it. And that movie has me drawing them more now than I have in over a decade and a half. It's good, guys.

It was amazing. OhsweetJesus that movie was amazing.

Even More Portfoolin'
Anyone who's recently been to Broy's blogspot might recognise one of the critters on this page. It's one of two characters I stole from him and made my own shameful drawings of. If he's angry enough, he'll let you know which of these is the second guy.

My march break ended. It was a very relaxing week that took my mind off of projects for a while. I was quite glad to come back to my precious wacom and photoshop, though. Here's a work in progress, folks. And here's to a longer lasting work schedule that promises much creativity and devotion.

...How long 'till Easter?

Gouachies!

Sorry it's been so long, guys. Here's a handful of recent sketches I've been working on. They've all been colored over in gouache. I love that stuff. It really gets me leaning towards color application.

The first batch of gouache sketches were all based around finding a final design on my female devil character (the one seen a few posts down). She wasn't doing so bad here, but I kept falling into the large head category, which bothered the hell out of me. She was looking way too young. I was diggin' the color sceme in the lower right drawing, though.

After pushing aside another grotesquely large head in the top left, I started pegging her proportions down a bit better. I added glasses to give her more of a mature work area look, and eventually really pegged it down with the bottom middle sketch.

I'm pretty close to the final now, after a month or so of design. I'll have to start putting her on model soon. Like, this weekend soon. I'll post the sheets up when I get the chance.

Here's a couple of randoms, with a pudgy little purple garden-gnomish kid who's name will be respectfully withdrawn, a somewhat confused Jesus, and a quick profile shot on our leading lady.

A young and brash Supes, ready for the heroic rescueins.

Which of course, throws old man Batman into a mindless, gassy rage.

Lucy...THREE DEE!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tShRRqDPVt0

The first time Lucy actually took form was in 3DSmax. I decided later on to take him to my traditional animation project. Between the video and the colored image below it, you'll notice some noticable changes in both characters, including the length of the neck and muscular anatomy. Also, in his 2D form, Lucy dons a loin cloth, since I didn't want him walking around naked. And neutered. Definetely wanted to avoid the neutering. There's enough Ken dolls in the world, I'd say.

Also, if anyone knows how to upload and actually post video files, please let me know how. The internets is getting too incomprehensible, dammit!

Seeing a pattern, anyone?

This guy and the gal below are the main characters in my new animation project, and I photoshoped them both, mainly for color testing. I'm really confident in what I can do with both of these characters. In fact, the male devil (whom I've contently named "Lucy") is a character I already animated in 3D. I enjoyed how that project turned out, and I only hope Lucy does even better in traditional format.

Happy 2007, everyone. Here's to a year filled with hopeful prosperity.

...SNOW DAAAAAAY!

No updates until after January 8th.

...HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Now get out of my office.

Friday, December 15, 2006

Alright, it's official. This paint stuff is wicked fun. It outta be a general art form, I tells ya'.
My animation instructor, Rick Knowles, provided this supperb layout bg for our painting class. I just added the pretty colors. Enjoy, folks!

Ooooh...paint!
Like...real, non-photoshopy paint, too! Who'da thunk? This is a fun fun Background painting...thing...I did. I'll be using it for a backdrop in my 3D project. Personally, I think it looked better before I scanned it. Maybe it's the resolution on this computer. Maybe I'm just trying to fool you good readers into thinking that it might actually be better than it looks here. Maybe I'm just full of crap and no should listen to a word I say. Ever. Tally-Ho!

Heads!

Hands!
Feet!
Eeeee-yep, more portfoolin' around. A bunch of stuff I scrounged from the ol' life drawing class. Some of it'll probably make it into the final 'folio. I'll find out in May, no doubt.

Friday, November 24, 2006

Hey folks, sorry for the lack of update. It's not you, it's me. I still love ya'. My room # is 71. Come visit anytime.

<_< ANYWAY. My last animation project kept me a tad busy. Here's a quickie to make up for the absence.

Portfoolin' Around

After packing myself with as much sugary delights as I could from my secret Halloween stash, I got the idea in me to scan a buncha crap from my current sketchbook. A lot of these (and several more) will likely go to my portfolio, already in progress.

Isn't that great, Prancing Bicurious Devilman?

We knew this day would come.

As an avid Disney supporter, the original's far better.

More of the same. 'Cept I really tried to push the inking in Photoshop. I had so much fun just mix-&-matching all the colors on this one. Photoshop's a really fun tool for that, and it's great for people like me, who have a lot of trouble thinking up a color scheme before applying it. She started off as a white blonde, and I'm really glad I changed it. No offense to the white blondes out there, I love all you ladies!

Well, I promised you a colored version, and 'lo and behold, I have left you disapointed. I'm struggling on the color, so in the meantime, 'lo and behold the inked version instead. I'm still having trouble with line quality, both in pencil and tablet work. Just gimme time and patience, folks!

Here come the Butcherman!

Expect a color version of this happy fellow in a bit. I need to keep my photoshoppin' from getting rusty....maybe I should learn actual painting instead. Actually, that's what Background painting classes are for. God, I'm a slave to the digital world. The one...the one without all the digimon.

....Oh hell, I love that world, too. Digimon, digital monsters, Digimon are the CHAMPIONS!
